Friday May 17 – Day 137 – Advanced Swap – Coloring over white pigment ink on dark cardstock

Devyn: This was an interesting card technique to try! I’m not too familiar with coloring with colored pencils but this was fun. I started with Gina K In The Navy cardstock base. I laid out the stamps from the My Monthly Hero March 2019 kit, where I think they would look good and die cut the aquarium die in Gina K Black Onyx and laid it over to make sure it all lined up. After a few adjustments, I stamped the fish, seaweed, and rock in Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink and I colored them Prismacolor colored pencils. I used Clear Wink Of Stella to add a little shimmer to the fish and seaweed.

Lori: We tried this technique for a card swap and I really enjoyed doing it! I used Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus for the base, then Black Onyx with My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX die set. I used Gina K Designs Slate cardstock for the stamp/coloring layer.  I used Altenew Leaf Canopy in Gina K Designs Jet Black Amalgam, then the inner stamp with Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils in 4 green shades. I heat embossed the sentiment in Versafine with Nuvo Fine Detail Glacier White embossing powder.

Thursday May 16 – Day 136 – Eclipse Card for a swap

Lori: Another card for our challenge group! This was my first eclipse card, and it was pretty fun!  I used Neenah Environments Desert Storm 100# for the base, and Neenah Classic Crest Cream 80# for the stamped layer. I colored the Simon Says Stamp Flower Explosion with the following Copic Markers: B000, BV0000, G40, R30, RV000 and YG00. I cut that piece with My Favorite Things HUGS die and four more from Desert Storm to give it height. Super cute and super easy!

Devyn: This card was WAY simpler than I thought it would be. I started with a Gina K Red Hot cardstock base. Next, I stamped My Favorite Things Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot on My Favorite Things Pineapple and inked it up with Altenew Chamomile, I used the die MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 to add the stitching around the edge for added interest. I die cut the ‘Hello’ from Hero Arts Hello Message Fancy die from a scrap from the polka dot background and I just added 3 layers of the Red Hot underneath it.

Wednesday May 15 – Day 135 – Foiling with We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill

Devyn: This foiling pen was WAY easier than I thought it would be. This was super easy to use and I feel that I’m going to be foiling A LOT more! It looks super fancy and super fun. I started with a Gina K Layering Ivory piece and placed a piece of gold foil over it for the (44658)Giraffe Sketch, the speech bubble, and text. I cut out the base (208193) in Gina K Tangerine Twist. (BTW, I didn’t realize this card was backward until mom pointed it out when I took the photo. LOL!)

Lori: Nothing makes a card extra special like foiling! The new WRMK Foil Quill is a pretty cool tool! We played around with this finally on the Silhouette. I placed a piece of Gina K Designs Edible Eggplant on the mat and then placed a piece of Rose Gold foil over. I used the Astina Font for ‘Happy Anniversary’ and the frame is Design Store ID #20918. I adjusted the frame to fit, and let the quill tool warm up. I ran it as a sketch, and the foiling worked perfectly. After foiling, I left the mat in place and cut the base using the Silhouette Design Store Design ID # 38910 by Lori Whitlock. I added an ivory insert and the card was done in under 15 minutes from design to complete!

Tuesday May 14 – Day 134 – More Silhouette Baby cards

Lori: I don’t make these little box cards often enough! They’re so fun to send and receive. I used the Silhouette Design Store file Design ID # 204343 by Lori Whitlock. I don’t know why, maybe because I’m left-handed, but I found it just looked better when I switched the direction of the sheep and other pop-ups. I also changed the font and wording on the little sentiment circle. I used Gina K Designs Moonlit Fog for the box and Bubblegum Pink for the background. The patterned paper is from Sunny Studios Classic Gingham. The white and blue were from scraps of Gina K Designs cardstock.

Devyn: This card is super simple! This is so easy if you need to send or give one it could be made on the same day. I used this cute file by Lori Whitlock (54165). My base is Gina K Ivory 120# base weight cardstock. The elephants are cut from DCWV Brights Stack, the ears and hearts Gina K Red Velvet, and hooves are Gina K Slate. For their eyes, I used Nuvo Ebony Black Crystal Drops.

Monday May 13 – Day 133 – Cards for Niece & Nephew/Cousin

Devyn: This card was thrown together last minute. This card was based on the book I sent my cousin Francesca, Mean Girls in Shakespearean, it was super fun and a great read. I used the file 40880 and cut the base out of My Favorite Things Ripe Raspberry. I used the Silver sketch pen on the My Favorite Things Insulation Pink layer.

Lori:This card is for my nephew, he really likes computers and gaming so I thought this card would be appropriate. This card didn’t take long to make (File # 41370), it was a few different layers and it looks really cool! I started with a Gina K Dark Sage for the base, the middle layer is Gina K 80# Layering Ivory, and the top is My Favorite Things Field Day.

Sunday May 12 – Day 132 – Joanna Sheen Garden Snowdrop

Lori: I started with a base of Gina K Designs Ocean Mist cardstock, then cut a frame layer with Grass Green using Lawn Fawn Small Dotted Rectangle Stackables and Memory Box Pinpoint Circle Frame. I cut the Garden Snowdrop on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# and colored with Copic marker colors: B0000, B00, G21, and G24 and glued it to the center of the frame window. I stamped a sentiment from My Favorite Things Sending Prayers with Versafine Onyx Black and cut with My Favorite Things Fishtail Banner.

Devyn: Along with our last post about the bluebells, these are super easy to die and then just color. I like these for making a simple card. I used a Gina K Applemint for my base. For my mat, I used Gina K Lovely Lavender, for the outer stitching I used My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX 2 and Memory Box Pinpoint Double Frame for the inner frame. I colored the flowers using very basic Copic coloring for the flower C0 and YG05 for the stem. For the final touch, I stamped My Favorite Things Anything but Basic Encouragement in Gina K Black Amalgam.

Saturday May 11 – Day 131 – Joanna Sheen Bluebells

Devyn: These bluebells are so darling! I was looking to do some simple cards. I started with a My Favorite Things Lemon Chiffon. Next, I did a My Favorite Things Pink Lemonade layer with the middle die cut frame with Memory Box Stitched Frame and the outside stitching is from My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX 2. I colored the flowers using Copic Markers. For the flowers, I used B04 and the leaves YG07 & YG09. The sentiment is from Picket Fence Ways To Get Well in Gina K Black Amalgam.

Lori: I love this cute little die. So simple, yet carries the whole card! I started with a base of My Favorite Things Spearmint cardstock and cut Your Next Die Rectangle Stack Frame from My Favorite Things Blueberry cardstock. The center is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# and the die cut piece is the same cardstock. I colored it with Copic marker colors: B26, B28, YG41 and YG45. The Sentiment die is Simon Says Stamp CZ Designs Thanks Layered die with the background in Spearmint and the foreground in Blueberry.

Friday May 10 – Day 130 – Pet Sympathy

Lori: We never like making these, but we always want to show our support when our dear friends lose their fur babies. This one was for a friend who recently lost her kitty, Chandler. It’s a Silhouette Design Store file Design ID# 212330 by Sweet Afton. I cut the base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock. I cut the layers from Neenah Environments Desert Storm 80#. The paws were cut from Neenah Black 100# cardstock.

Devyn: We sadly have to make more pet sympathy cards and we were out. I cut this out with our Silhouette Cameo. I really like this gatefold file (207647), it was really small so I made it a bit bigger. The base is cut from Gina K Kraft. To make the inside card, I used Gina K Slate & My Favorite Things Cement Gray for the inside to write. When I send it, it’ll have a ribbon wrapped around it.

Thursday May 9 – Day 129 – MFT Band Aids

Devyn: This card was super basic! I really like the mixed patterns. I started with a My Favorite Things Spearmint cardstock base. I love stripes, I thought this would look adorable with Altenew Pinstripe, I inked it with Altenew Sweet Leaf dye ink on part of the card and taped it with Scotch Washi Stripes Polka Dots. I used My Favorite Things Band-Aids die to die cut them out. I stamped ‘Feel Better’ from My Favorite Things Feel Better on Concord & 9th’s Holly Jolly Banner.

Lori: It’s been a while since I made a gatefold card, and these Band-aid dies seemed like they were made for this style card. I used Gina K Designs Innocent Pink cardstock for the base, and used Barely There for the layer stamped with Gina K Designs Gauze background and Barely There amalgam ink. This card was almost a mess when I used the gauze background stamp in a color that resembled an infected wound seeping through the gauze! I simply flipped the cardstock over and used a lighter shade that worked perfectly! The Band-Aids were cut from the same colors. I stamped the sentiment with My Favorite Things Feel Better stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Wednesday May 8 – Day 128 – Marianne Designs Eline’s Puppy

Lori: When we found these dies, we knew we could make little versions of our dogs! So, I made Enzo, my Rescue Chihuahua/Min Pin mix. I got pretty close! I started with a base in My Favorite THings Blue Yonder cardstock, then cut the Memory Box Big Word Pop Curve from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# for the giant speech bubble. The hello is My Favorite Things Simply Hello die from a scrap of green cardstock. The grass is from the same scrap cut with My Favorite Things Grassy Edges die. I used a bunch of scraps for Enzo.

Devyn: I love this set by Marianne Designs, you can make any dog pretty much. I started with a Gina K Stormy Sky cardstock base. I cut the pieces for Edison from scraps from our scrap basket. Edison is a huge homebody so I figured to make him indoors, I die cut a piece of maroon from our scrap basket with My Favorite Things Flower Vase and cut some leaves from Marianne Designs Greenery. The floors are from Penny Black Wood Floors in Gina K Kraft and Dark Chocolate. For the wallpaper, I used Lawn Fawn Quilted Backdrop in My Favorite Things Lemon Chiffon.
